Our philosophy
Calendula Care was born from a desire for a more sustainable world. We love creating care products that are truly sustainably produced.
But we value health just as much! We like our skincare products to be as fresh and pure as our food. After all, your skin is your largest organ.
That's why we use only organic, pure, natural ingredients. And that's why we produce our own products in Langbroek.
Organic, natural, and locally produced. That's our foundation.
Calendula
Calendula—also known as marigold—is a true local skin hero! This beautiful flower inspired our skincare line.
The ingredient is best known in the form of calendula ointment, a product often used for cuts or irritated skin. Quite rightly so, but a bit one-sided.
We think it's such a wonderful ingredient for soap, balm, skin oil and serums!
Calendula promotes skin regeneration and has anti-inflammatory properties. It also has a cooling effect, soothes itching, and is suitable for even the most sensitive (problem) skin. Perfect for those cuts, but just as good for dry skin, (sun)burn, irritated skin, acne-prone skin, or baby skin.
What's more, this ingredient doesn't have to be flown halfway around the world. Our high-quality calendula extract comes from Germany, and the dried flowers we use are sourced from the Netherlands.
Organic
For us, a good personal care product starts with organic ingredients. It's a simple choice with a big impact: healthy, high-quality products and a better world. That's why we only work with ingredients that are certified organic.
Unprocessed natural
From calendula to mango butter and from beeswax to almond oil... our ingredients are all natural. They naturally possess valuable properties, such as flavonoids and carotenes in calendula or vitamins E and A in many vegetable oils. So, we believe there's no need to add anything else.
We use only unprocessed ingredients, ensuring their valuable properties are preserved. Our oils and butters are cold-pressed, our beeswax is unbleached, and we use coconut oil in its purest form... with that recognizable coconut scent.
We hope to contribute to a more sustainable world by sourcing and producing as locally as possible. That's why we make everything ourselves, in Utrecht. This is not only sustainable, but also fun! And it ensures a transparent production process. This way, we know exactly what's in our products and what's not.
Local sourcing is more challenging. You can't make a good bar of soap from 100% Dutch ingredients. But we certainly consider the origin of an ingredient. We like to find the most local solution. For example, our essential oils are sourced from Europe, while we also source wonderful fragrances from Australia or Asia. We also prefer to use Spanish almond oil or Spanish olive oil, and the choice of beeswax also depends on location; this comes from Germany, while vegan wax often comes from South America.
We absolutely love our beautiful tulip bulb paper or paperwise packaging. This way, every product is a gift for yourself, and not a burden on the environment. After use, the packaging can be recycled again!
Of course we still have many (sustainable) dreams for the future.
But the basics... we're quite proud of them :)
